ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This study was designed to examine existing research on service marketing in nursing and identify the results by analyzing research trends in medical and nursing service marketing over the last 15 years. METHODS: Electronic databases were searched, including RISS, Korea Citation Index. The papers were classified by criteria, focusing on research topics, research design and statistical analysis method. RESULTS: From 2002 to 2016, 221 research articles on medical or nursing service marketing were published in local academic journals. Most of the articles were about service quality and satisfaction. Generally questionnaire surveys were used. There were 34 papers related to nursing service marketing. Most of them were about satisfaction and had used a questionnaire survey. CONCLUSION: Further research needs to be done with nursing service marketing topics including a variety of themes such as personal services and customer behaviors.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Skin grafting is one of the most commonly used methods in reconstructive plastic surgery field, but complications such as color change, contracture or hypertrophy are common problems. However, pathophysiology of the color change after skin graft is not yet determined and no animal model is established. METHODS: Full thickness skin grafts were performed on the dorsum of C57BL/6 mice. Serial chronological gross inspection for color change and pigmentation were examined. Melanin pigments were traced by Fontana-Masson staining and semi-quantitative analysis was performed. In addition, immunohistochemical staining of S-100, Micropthalmia related Transcription Factor(MITF) and Melan-A antibodies were also performed to observe melanocytes and their changes. RESULTS: After skin graft, color change and pigment spots were observed in the graft. Fontana-Masson staining showed melanin pigments in the epidermal and dermal layers in all mice. Immunohistochemistry staining to S-100, MITF, Melan-A antibodies showed melanocytes at the basal layer of epidermis and dermis. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, we have established an animal model for skin pigmentation after skin graft. We believe this study may be useful in understanding of the behavior of melanocytes after skin graft.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: We investigate the possibility of vessel preservation with glycerol and evaluate the potential of preserved gastroepiploic artery as a tool for the microsurgical practice. METHODS: In 5 early gastric cancer patients, IRB(No. C-0603-040-170), we gained gastroepiploic artery specimens(5 segments, about 10cm) after gastrectomy. Each segment was rinsed in a normal saline and subsequently placed in a bottle, containing 50mL anhydrous glycerol (87%). The bottles were refrigerated at 4degrees C, the longest preservation time being 5 months. RESULTS: At first glance, no fragmentation was detected and the surface of vessel seemed mild sclerotic. In histological examination, vascular structures remained intact though preservation with glycerol led to a mild atrophy of the smooth muscle in the tunica media. Especially, we found out the elastic fibers and endothelial lining of the intima were preserved until 5 months. Adequate status for using microsurgical practice was also maintained and leakage test was performed successfully with gentian violet ink. CONCLUSION: Based on the results obtained in this study, the gastroepiploic artery preservation with glycerol as a training model for microvascular anastomosis is a technically very simple procedure and useful for the novice microsurgeon.
